During the 2014 Re-fit the hydraulic system was replaced and upgraded to accommodate the High Pressure Air Compressor, Hauling Gear, Anchor Winches, and Bow Thruster.
Here is a breakdown of the components:
During the 2014 Re-fit a Hydraulic Piston Pump was installed to run off the Main Engine via a
Mini-Drive Shaft and 12-Volt Electric Clutch.
Compressor is a Bauer Model K100. It runs off a Hydraulic Motor attached to the flywheel and electrically operated with a 12-volt solenoid switch and automatic shut-off. More information on the dive system is available Here.
Electric 12-volt Solenoids with Flow Control for the 2 circuits - 1 for the Dive Compressor, 1 for the Deck Gear.
Located on the Boom, this hydraulic winch is operated with a 12 volt electric solenoid switch.
Used for Hot-Line Style of Urchin Fishing with boat anchored. Not as efficient as Live Boating but good for high wind days in tricky areas. Also handy if you are storing urchins in bags under-water overnight on a long-line.
There are 2 Anchor Winches on this vessel, Forward and Stern. Both are Northill Anchors.
The Bow Anchor has lots of thick chain, and 250 feet of 1/2" braided anchor line. The winch is strong and pulls the anchor up at a standard speed for this type of winch. The anchor rarely drags but a soft bottom and extreme winds can cause dragging. In moderate winds the weight of the chain will keep the boat in one place. I have been diving with the anchor down many a time and seen the anchor not even being moved at all as the chain was doing all the holding.
The Stern Anchor is a smaller version of the bow anchor with lots of chain and line as well. It uses a capstan style of hydraulic winch which pulls the anchor up quite quickly. It is a great anchoring option for a quick stop or emergency if something happens and you are close to shore. For some dive fisheries it's handy to have both anchors down to keep the boat from going in circles.
The Bow Thruster is a Keypower 10" Hydraulic Thruster. It was installed in May, 2014 and last serviced in May, 2023.
It's operated by a 12 volt solenoid accessed by either the
Forward or Aft Steering Station Switches.
